Youth & Education
Grow With Us!
St. Nicks Alliance’s Youth and Education work is fundamental to its comprehensive community revitalization efforts. We currently serve over 2,500 children, youth, and family members in partnership with local public schools, housing developments, and Brooklyn’s oldest settlement house. Through trusting relationships and holistic programs, we create a “home” space where youth can try new things, make friends, learn new skills, find inspiration, and grow into our next generation of leaders.
Our work originates in the community development movement and the belief that the development of strong and healthy young people is the responsibility of the entire community. We operate in genuine and deep collaboration with the major influences in a child’s life, especially peer groups, families, and schools, to weave a strong web of support. All programs are characterized by trusting, caring relationships with peers and adults; youth engagement and input; and a sense of belonging and community.
Continuity is a hallmark of St. Nicks Alliance youth programs, as many of our youth start with elementary and middle school afterschool programs and then progress to high school internship or work opportunities.
